Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

hello,
I am doing a project in college, the modeling part to get my idea through to the doctors I can't do in the traditional modeling way so I was looking for a script  or some way to do it using grasshopper.

If any one can help or even give me a starting lead I'd be hugely grateful.

What i need to do is:
I Have an 8-sided geometrical unit that i need to morph or distribute on a surface,
I don't want to see the surface at the end it would be just a guide to follow with some openings in it
but the way the unit should be scattered is what i need to control, along with it's scale, and also the resulting units should not overlap like what happens in 3dsmax when using the scattering command.
so is there a way that after i model the surface with the openings in it to scatter the object so that they only connect if one of the faces in a unit is parallel and adjacent to another surface from the next unit,
or if i can identify different methods of joining between the units that then can be followed.
i need also to be able to control a minimum and maximum limit for the scale and rotation of the units.

In the attached image is the feeling i want to achieve in my interior space but as you can see the unit that is repeated is intersecting with the surrounding geometry.

If there is something similar already there It would really be of great help.

Thank you in advance.
