Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello Friends,

I was hoping to get some insight from the more advanced users in regards to how I can construct mountains in more or less a linear direction. I have attached some examples in relation to the form of the mountains and need some randomization involved. If you can just get me started in the right direction, I would be much obliged. It doesn't have to have much detail, just the general shapes, because I could always apply a displacement to create the fine characteristics.

Thanks!

Are you sure Grasshopper is the right tool for you? There's loads of landscape editors out there (some of them even good and free I heard) that are specifically designed to deal with this sort of problem. Whereas Grasshopper and Rhino are not particularly good at organic shapes.

David is correct - here's a good terrain generator to check out: Terragen. There are both free and paid versions (but I expect the paid one is pretty costly.)
