morph an object on a ring

hey :)

I'm trying to create "mandala",I want that one ring will be hexagons (its an exercise for study). 

i tried to put it in bounding box but it didn't work.

Will be very happy for your help\suggestions

Why don't you use "Lunchbox" plug-in?
