algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Modelling a simple human spine.Need help with aligning a planar surface along a curve.

Hello guys,

I am having some difficulties with modelling a simple human spine. I tried first modelling it as if the vertebrae were circles and this way it is easy since you can divide the spine curve and use points of division as circle center. I was then able to manipulate the width and radius of the vertebrae. (enclosing a jpeg and definition).

After that I drew an actual vertebra which I would like to align along the spine curve. I am having problems since I do not know how to angle the vertebra so that the normal of vertebra always follows the tangent of the spine curve. (i am enclosing a two jpegs and a definition)

If anyone could help me with this I would very much appreciate it.

I know that this is not an actual model of the human spine yet but I first have to learn the basics.

Thank you very much in advance,

Best
