Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi ALL

An image explains more than 100 words (sometimes). I did a definition that is working very poorly, and its really big compared with the "thing" it does. Have any one any suggestion about how to do "this (see image)" in a more simple, nice, clean way?

How I did it was through voronoi and reasamble tiny segments, join and explote several times, but at the end, its not working properly. Please, any help would be very appreciated.

THANKS

Looks like you are looking at medial axes. In my recent blog post on this I posted a simple definition and lots of links to sites that describe more sophisticated algorithms for finding these.
Yes I got inspired by your definition. But using not the inner lines but outerones. The thing is that I thought there shuold be a way to have that lines without having to rebuild the very tiny line segments, because in the place where three lines met thigs happen. I tryed to transform that into proper curves, I have to do lots of "boring" stuff (explode, join, dispatch, explode, join, dispatch, simplify, etc..) And I thought here, some people could throw thery ideas.

But to the point, thanks for sharing and helping, it have been really helpfull.. but I still hope to find a simpler way. Answering to your post question, voronoi (diagrams, structures, etc..) still has things to say, maybe not like a shape by itself, but like a geometric tool.
I'm relplying to myself, cool!

I discovered the magic Kink curve, that solved all my problems like charm! Mixed with the c.hull component, I have all I wanted. Not cool images to post, but very important to continue my project!!!
