Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

We have developed three (x3) designs for small structures to be made during a public workshop by children. All the designs are parametric and have been made in Grasshopper.

The structure in the photograph is "Volcano" and consists of 25 CNC-cut panels. Each panel is numbered and goes in numerical order, for easy of assembly. Each panel has a vertical slot to allow light into the structure and create an interesting sun pattern inside. Panels are ties together using cable ties. Even though each panel deflects and bends individually, together the structure is super rigid - similar to foil take-away boxes.

You can read about the other structures we have designed here.

You can also download instructions on how to make the structures,  including geodesic dome out of cardboard and a twig dome.

We are a CNC fabrication and design facility. You can see other projects here.
