measuring individual components

hey,

I have created a surface and then morphed a diamond shaped component over it. Now as the curves of the surface change, the dimensions of the components change as well. To build this mesh sort of a structure, i need measurements of each single one of the component. I tried the waffle script, but its quite extensive and i just need the lengths of these components. Is there anything that can help me out at this stage? since I have to get this mesh built manually.
