looking at leaf leaf venation and need some help

I was looking at this post from 2011 and was wondering how hard would it be to do ?

I am running rhino 4 and tried a few of these examples with no luck .   

the best I can come up with is a don't have a plug installed and not sure what one , there is one polyline component that I think is the start of the failure . I am not sure the ways to fix it .Could someone point me in the right direction ?
