Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi everyone,

i'm new in the hole grasshopper world. i attended a 4 days long workshop to learn how GH works but i'm not really good.

Now, i'm trying to create a parametric object for me...a kind of object holder...i'll attach a picture. What i want to do, but i really can't do it, is to use a loft or a sweep2rail (actually i don't know if the component does exist or it doesn't) to create a surface between the curve (in red) and the brep (green) upper edges.

The problem is that i'm not able to isolate only the brep upper edges to join them and after to loft whit the curve. is it possible? how can i do it?

Really really thank you

This is very easy (theoretically ...  join curves (+ adjust seams) could(?) cut(?) the mustard - but don't assume that this "approach" is a Jack for all trades) but you should upload the def (and/or a R file if internalized things fail).

In general I would strongly suggest to post data and NOT just an image if you asking for some assistance.

hi, i attached the GH and rhino files in the following post. can you have a look at it? thank you

Well ... er ... working on your def is not that easy.

I'll provide soon a way to do this using just a few components serving just as an indication since some "components" there would be code (NOT helping you much and NOT suitable for a novice ... but clearly helping to understand the possibilities of "bridging" a polyline and a  curve).

Well ... not sure if I should post this ... but as I said: just an indication:

1. This is divided into 2 parts: the grey part is the part that you shouldn't focus: it does business via code and is NOT something useful for a novice. But it prepares the case (with very few "components" - Note: get LunchBox) by doing - among others- a decorative object "similar" with yours.

2. The other 2 parts are (maybe) worth studying having in mind what Tom said already.

I'm really sorry, but i'm really new in this world and i can't understand how to do this. I'll upload mi GH file and the rhino one. Can you have a look? Please...it is, probably, a mess.

Thank you so much
