Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello!

I find Locust very interesting tool for urban planning, but the problem is that swarm particles are moving in 3D..

Is there any way of defining there movement to 2D plane still maintaining all behaviors of  swarm ?

Did you manage to find answer for this? I would also like to use it as a human behavior, introducing physical objects into the movement

Would it not be possible to create a really shallow containment box? Not exactly 2D, but might be close enough?

Unfortunately i did not manage to find any possible way of imitating human behavior. I did try to make really shallow containment box, but particles would move up and down resulting in standing position in plan view.. I did try another plugin called nudibranch, which has point attraction and movement simulation possibilities. But no luck so far.. If you find some solution please give me a message.

Try to project 3D points onto a plane...

Good idea! But it would give me similar effect as shallow containment box. If nodes are moving up and down point would stand in same place on projection plane.
