Lines to follow spiral

I'm trying to create lines which use the division points of a spiral - as a start point, are a specified length, and remain parallel (or approximately conform) to the surface of the cone which the spiral is built off of.

These lines are simply drawn using the Z vector - I'm unsure how to follow the surface, so that the lines overlap and create a spiral contour. Thanks for your help and imagination/interpretation.
