Learning scripting.

Hi all,

This is to ask u wizards a suggestion about the popular scripting languages ... can u people suggest me a language which is widely used, easy ( Higher level languages) and same time be applied over other fields like electronics .. recently I have been very attracted over ARDUINO and RASPBERRY pi . SO looking forward for a scripting language That can be helpful and easy .

If you're just starting to learn programming, I wouldn't worry too much about language applicability. Pick a language that is modern, relatively easy and which has a lot internet resources. Some people like Python, some prefer C#, I like VB.NET.

VB is quite forgiving, it is not case-sensitive or indentation-sensitive. You can use Visual Studio Express (which is free) to write it and you can compile into .NET, which is a widely supported platform. Also, it is possible to very reliably convert VB.NET code into C# code. This will be of great use if you want to also learn C# or some other language from the C family.

It seems that Raspberry Pi requires Python whereas Arduino uses a C based language, but never having worked with either, I'm probably not the best person to answer that part of the question.
