Hi all.

Does anybody know how to run Karamba and hoopsnake together?

The problem is that hoopsnake crashes if karamba calculation is too much time consuming.

Thanks in advance.

Manuel

Hello

How are you doing ?

I installed the new release of grasshopper  today (grasshopper_wip_20120801), but since this moment, karamba (student license) doesn't show on the grasshopper toolbar. I removed and reinstalled proprely karamba several time but it's still doesn't work.

What can i do ?

Many thanks

Amaury

Hello Amaury,

we will try to upgrade Karamba to the new version of GH as soon as possible.

Until then the best solution is to use Grasshopper 0.8.0063 - 0.8.0066 in connection with the current release of Karamba.

Best,

Clemens

Hi,

I'm having some trouble installing Karamba 1.0.2. I downlaod and run through the install no problem, but cannot find either the karamba.gha or any related .DLL's in the spec'd folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\McNeel\Rhinoceros 4.0\Plug-ins\Grasshopper/Components). A search for 'karamba' via Windows Explorer returns no reusults...however:

Karamba is listed as recently installed when I navigate to 'Uninstall a program' via Control Panel  (based on reading prior posts's, seems like an uninstall/ reinstall in recommended). Version 1.0.2 is shown as installed with a size of 5.79 MB.

I have run through an Uninstall/Reinstall with the same results (looks to be installed, but no trace of install found).

Suggestions?

Nick

Details: Karamba 1.0.2

            Rhino 4, 32 bit.

            Grasshopper version 0.9.0014

            .NET 4.0

Hi Nick,

Karamba 32bit installs itself to 'C:\Program Files (x86)\McNeel\Rhinoceros 4.0\Plug-ins\Grasshopper' by default. That's one level below 'C:\Program Files (x86)\McNeel\Rhinoceros 4.0\Plug-ins\Grasshopper\Components'.

Best,

Clemens

Clemens,

No Karamba related files exist even at this folder level (or anywhere I can see), whilst it contiunes to appear to be installed via Control Panel. So, it's there...but it's not.

Nick

Nick,

that's spooky. Are you sure that you got the path to the installation directory right? Try a search on your personal folders. If this gives no result search the whole harddisk.

Clemens

Clemens,

As you guessed, I got the directory wrong. Thanks for the reply.

Nick

Happy 2013,

I am trying to understand the (http://www.karamba3d.com/shell-and-beam/) example.

However I don't quiet get it. Does anyone could explain what the formulas are doing ?

sin(z*(sqrt((-5-x)²+(-5-y)²)))

0.15*{1,1,0}*x + y*0.7*x - {0,0,x/4}

Is there any tutorials for karamba except the two available in :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSpA5uveAaA

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7CRgV1652k

specially for http://www.karamba3d.com/shell-and-beam/ example.

Thank you.

Hi Clemens,

When running the install for "karamba3d 1.0.2 for GH0.9 FREE (64 bit)" I get the following message:

`This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package`.

I hope you can help,

Many thanks,

Arthur

Hi Arthur,

do you have the .NET-Framework 3.0 or upwards installed? On apple machines this is sometimes not the case.

Best,

Clemens

Dear Karamba Users,

I have a problem with Buckling (Buckling length) Effect of elements. Does anyone knows the way how to examin elements (cross section) regarding buckling?

I`ve found that Karamba is showing some deformation via `Eigen Modes` (please find printscreen attached) but it seems that it`s a wrong direction.

I will be happy for any advise.

Best,

R.
