Kangaroo Catenary System With an Object (Involves Collusions as well!)

Hi There,

I am trying to write a script where a simple catenary system - with bunch of curves - simulate a cable system that holds series of non-fixed objects. Factors like rest length and stiffness are not meant to be realistic.

The objects are identical. Two triangles with pockets created by the fold of a larger triangle. As shown in the screen shot each object both rest on the wire which goes through them and sits between the pocket and triangular frame but also on each other as well - as they slide into each other -.

In the rhino file there is the original component in addition to its simplified versions - which ever is easier to simulate -.

At least in the way I have done a catenary system has not been sufficient to make a relatively realistic situation since the objects seem to clash with each other. I assume collusions is required as well so that in addition to the rotation and positioning caused by the catenary force each objects orientation is also constrained by the adjacent ones. In other words, one's triangular frame moves in another's pocket to a certain extent as one object has two frames - perpendicular to each other -, both sliding into another object's pocket - in perpendicular axis -.

I have attached in the link;

- a manually made assembly of 12 pieces.

- 1 of the objects with its simplified versions - the most simplified being used to test in the grasshopper script -

- grasshopper script that works satisfactory when the objects are considered as triangular surfaces yet not when objects with thickness and pocket with a volume.

PS: I have attached some screenshots of the desired situation.

Kind Regards,

Levent

try this one it should be working. I tried to upload here but it did not work perhaps due to size.

Thanks!
