Import Layer Information from Rhino

Dear Forum,

When we associate objects from Rhino into Grasshopper, can we also bring in their layer information.  

My goal is to make a definition that I can bring in objects in different Rhino layers, work on them in Grasshopper, then export them directly from Grasshopper as ACIS files per layer.  

Any comments appreciated.
