Image Gallery

I was wondering if there was a possibility to add a input to the image gallery to allow local paths or remote urls. I am working on a mapping system that uploads an image and stores the url in a database. This database is then accessed by grasshopper and it would be nice if as images were taken, the link to said image would be added to the image gallery. Just an idea.
