How to manipulate line with proximity to point

Hi all,

I am having some problems with the manipulation of the lines.

I am intending to use the point indicated to suggest for the lines to peel open (assuming its a sunpath and the building skins open up) but the lines shift at a uniform distance and does not turn up like the way i visualised it to be. (attached a diagram of what i am getting and what i want to achieve)

I think it has something to do with the 'range' of movement and stuffs?

I sincerely hope someone is able to suggest a solution for this.
