how to differentiate the wave of the frequency of a sine / cosine function

Hi,

I have this definition David Rutten gave me, that differentiates the heights between waves on a surface controlled by a sine / cosine function.

Anybody has an idea how to control the distance of the waves so they are not homogeneous, and they increase width from the center to the periphery gradually?
