algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi everyone, 

I have a problem I cannot solve, I know is a bit of a basic thing but things are not working out at all, so I'm starting over hopefully with your help. 

my question is: in a surface base how can I populate points on it (or somewhere else ) in a gradient like pattern, I mean, I use the world populate because I just need a bunch of points randomly but I need them to be populated in a decreasing/increasing way,  one side having a lot and slowly decreasing to almost none. 

Any ideas how should I begin?
