Heterogenous Infill In Coated Objects (Project Guidance)

Hi All,

I've just started a project which aims to improve the weight to strength ratio in 3D printed objects. This would be achieved by creating a Heterogenous internal structure based on an analysis.

I've done a few test in Karamba, just looking at the force flow on a 2D mesh. I can see how this could quite easily be mapped to some kind of infill density criteria.

However, I can't see how the Karamba approach would scale up to 3D. A colleague suggested that I should try Millipede, would this be a better approach?

Any input/direction would be hugely appreciated.

Just to be clear, isn't a minimum compliance topology optimization but instead purely n internal structure optimization.

Thanks in advance,

Charles
