Hemisphere with a mesh applied

I'm trying to produce a hemisphere on the end of a cylinder and apply a mesh pattern to it. 

I have tried creating a Paraboloid solid shape in Rhino but I couldn't apply the mesh to it. Not sure if I'm applying the mesh improperly or I'm creating the shape wrong. 

Any decent tutorials in this area would also be helpful
