Having issue with text conversion to numbers

I'm receiving a multi-item string from an android devise.  I then use the text split component to give each item it's own index so that I can pull information by index.  The problem is that the item that I'm trying to use is always a number, but for whatever reason Grasshopper can't seem to convert it from text to a number.  See attached screen shot.

try using text trim to remove any whitespace characters? if that doesn't work internalize the data from the OSC listener and upload your file, that will make it easier to troubleshoot.
