Grasshopper vs Netfabb

Can anyone comment on how Grasshoppers compare to Netfabb's Selective Space Structures (SSS)? I am interested in using matrix meshes for my designs. I understand that netfabb SSS creates a very light weight model given its complexity. Does the same happen with an equivalent Grasshopper file?
