Grasshopper locking up

I read a point cloud data from a file which I then transfer to a point component for processing downstream.  I find that when I load up the grasshopper definition for the first time, the system locks up and I have to crash out of the program.  I find a solution is to internalise the data in the point component before proceeding to the processing.  Once I get it to work this way, then the lock-up does not occur even when I re-connect the point component to the file input part of the definition.  Not sure why this happens.  All the downstream processing consists of  simply  creating mesh from points.

The point cloud data is stored in the local C drive on my computer so it is not a network access problem.
