algorithmic modeling for Rhino

So we've been asked to put our own spin on Gramazio and Kohler's perforated wall in our robotics class for Andrew Kudless (MATSYS)

We are thinking of expressing the phenomenon of where ocean meets the sky in our rendition. As a sort of magnification of this infinite and indefinite line, we want to impose this boundary by constructing a gradient of spots (i.e. specs in the water) that condense and warp as they approach the boundary. This is to be a grasshopper definition applied to a 1m x 1m concrete wall as piping formwork which is inscribed in the casing by our robot.

Any thoughts on how to approach this? Gradient mapping and image sampling are a starting point, but how can we have more control over it?

Seeing as how this involves waves, maybe you should generate your circles/points on a wavy surface, then project it onto the flat plane. It'll allow you to create clusters of dots that might look related to liquid/gas interface effects.

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but maybe it'll point you in the right direction. Simple cull gradient based on y axis.
