Gradient coloring sections of a ship

Hi, I'm tryin to color sections(curves) of a ship individually along the lenght of the ship. Looked to forum for that, but only found solutions for areas, and couldn't manage to modify them to my case.

I tried to vary the color of the curves depending on their distance to point (0,0,0), i think this may work with right combination of commands.

Any help is appreciated.
