GH objects directly in Layouts (aka Paper Space)

Is it possible to have grasshopper objects work in layouts (aka paper space)?

For example, I'd like to have GH control text variables etc. in layouts. (NB: not the detail views themselves but the paper space around them)

Thanks in advance,

No in fact I had to jump through some hoops to make sure GH previews are not drawn in paper space, the coordinates they have in world space become nonsensical in paper space. It is possible to draw geometry in paper space using the Rhino SDK, but Grasshopper intentionally stays well away from that.

Thank you David,

Makes perfect sense.

And: Noticing your "previews are not redrawn" I went back and found out that while GH previews are indeed not drawn, the baked results are.

However, I get the same baked results for every layout although I define their locations (via rhino points) only on one. (I have to go through each layout and "re-bake"). My intention would be to set out all locations (e.g. points) on each layout and then get the geometries there by baking once.

interestingly, grasshopper previews DO show up in paper space when you go to take a screenshot. Can be an unpleasant surprise! (And yes, as you've noted it is also possible to bake into paper space).

As for text - There is a bit of a workaround which I've used in the past, which is to live-modify a text object that lives in paper space. As long as you only need to set the dynamic CONTENT rather  than location of those text objects, it works quite nicely. See the attached GH file - just right-click, choose "set one guid" and highlight a pre-existing text object on the layout.
