Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

i have an open brep with all normals orientated outwards.
if i look at the normals in gh some are flipped, if i bake the geometry they come back to
their original orientation!???

anyone had similar problems? any workaround?

Hi Quirin,

Normally the normals on a surface are the direct result of the layout of the control-point grid. However, Breps have little flags on each face that might say: "flip the normals!". When you flip a surface is might not actually change the surface at all, it just updates the flag. I need to pay attention to these flags when I evaluate normals in Grasshopper, which I'm currently not.

hi david

thanks for your reply!

i figured out that swapping the uv-direction manually for some surfaces is giving me the
proper normal direction in GH which makes sense concerning the control-point layout for
the surface. maybe it would be possible to implement a swapUV node in GH too!?
