Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hey guys,

I have a question if it is possible during the formfinding in kangaroo to restrain a point after it reachs some condition, for example the point is not restrained till it reachs the certain z coordinate and then it becomes restrained and it cant move further. To make it more clear, printscreen of what I have(on left) and what I want (on right) is attached. Also the grasshoper file with txt coordinate files are attached. Thank you for your answers.

Do you mean moving the anchor point during the simulation?

Check attached. I'm not sure...

Yes, thank you very much, very helpful!! I was thinking about checking the output, then finding this middle point in the output geometry, comparing its z value with some number and then if this z value would be bigger I would have used the function anchor xyz, enabled z restrain and used it as a new input, but...it did not work because of the error that the output depends on itself...So, thank you for your help! Anyway, you added some mesh refinement functions to make the simulation look better, may I ask what should I use as an input for the Deconstruct Mesh function? You left it without input and Im curious how it works...

You'll need "Weaverbird" plugin's "Mesh from lines".

Will download it...I have one more question, maybe I should open a new discussion for that, but, at least Im gonna try here. Do you know how should I adjust the forces acting at each point such that they would actually represent the selfweight of the grid? Because now it is just the same vertical force at each point, which is not really good approach. Thank you,

Filip
