Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Is there a trick to using David's font parser for Laser cutting that was posted to the parametricmodel.com website.  I have installed the fonts in my font directory and opened the grasshopper font parser but I am unable to change fonts.  The GH definition appears to work but if I change the font name in the font panel, the font stays the same. In fact if I delete the font panel completely, the definition still works.  So it tells me the font panel is really not supplying the font to the definition.  Unfortunately, I am unable to discern what needs to be modified in the VB script. I am able to change the String for the actual copy however, the font always stays the same.

Any Help with instruction of how to change the font is appreciated.  I attached the GH file.

Strange - it works for me. If no font is supplied, or the font is not recognized, it will default to a specific font - it sounds like this is happening to you. Is there a chance you've entered the font name incorrectly? in the attached file I've added a little code that tests if the specified font was found. If you're entering the font properly and it's still not being found, then I'm not sure what to tell you.

Thanks for trying Andrew.  It is probably something I am doing or not doing.  I'll keep working on it.

Andrew,

I put the parser down for a couple of weeks and came back to it.  I got it to work.  You were right...the font name was wrong.  My mistake was using the file name.  The name to input for the font name is the name inside the file on the first line....which may or may not match the actual file name.  The font I was trying to use had a different file name than the font name. They were close but not exact.  I learn something new everyday. Thanks to helpful people like you.

Your addition to the parser code was very helpful.  Knowing if the default font was used or the specified font was used really sped up my trouble shooting.  Great addition.  Thank you for offering it.

I loved seeing the work you did with Sarah Oppenheimer.  Do you have any other images you can share?

Thank you again.
