Extruding subsurface

Hi Guys, 

I am having an issue with a def. that i am working on. I am trying extrude the subsurface at the varying distances set by the intersection of the a line and a surface. 

However i cant seem to get them to happen at all of the subdivision instances. 

I would appreciate any help.
