Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

I'm building a grasshopper program that would create a profile shape, and then extrude that shape on selected curves to make a number of beams . The problem is it only works on straight lines. How can i make it work on other curves?

Thanks for reply!

Hi Danijel,

Sounds like you're needing to use Sweep rather than extrude. If you search the grasshopper ning for Sweep there's been discussions on this before.

As an easier alternative for beams, you might be interested in checking out StructDrawRhino which makes the orienting etc easier. http://www.geometrygym.com

Hope this helps,

Jon
Hi Jon, How much is SSI for non-students?
Danny
Hi Danny,

For commercial use, the cost of a 3 month structDrawRhino license typically costs in the order of 2 or 3 hours work based on typical european charge out rates. So the economics of justification are pretty simple, if used properly it should save 10 times that (if not more). If you are using the connectors like IFC (to REVIT, Digital Project etc) or structural analysis it's a bit more. There's flexible license options for computer locked or network shared (via an internet checkout). This includes support from myself and all updates and improvements (I try to implement as many users requests and ideas as quickly as possible).

I offer a month free trial so users can test it and see if it really can improve work flows or not.

If you're interested, please download and try it, I'd be very interested in your feedback.

Cheers,

Jon
