Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all,

I might be stupid for asking this question, because it seems a bit simple, but i just can not find out how to do this:

i have a 3 degree curve. I need its direction/tangent in a specific point. It doesn't have to be in grasshopper, in Rhino itself would be fine as well. See the picture. What I actually need is exactly what the "dir" command in Rhino does, but i need the direction as a line or vector, or something i can work with...

The point of interest is a world xyz point and no t-value of my curve, thats why i can't use the curve analyzes tools in grasshopper. and in rhino i just can not find it..

Am i stupid??

hi benjamin,

try "CP Curve" that will find the Closest Point on your Crv to your given xyz-point. then you got a t-parameter on the Crv. "evaluate crv", and "vector display" might be helpful as well.

good luck,
frank

works superb, thank you Frank

But by any chance, is there a similar command in Rhino? just being curious...

regards
Benjamin
