Distribution of areas in specific space

Is there a way to arrange shapes efficiently withing a bigger shape? Something similar to the packrat (http://www.volatileprototypes.com/projects/packrat/) component but with freedom of shape even if it's only in 2d.

Being an architect, I would like to have the list of the spaces (shapes, areas) needed for a building, placed efficiently within the limit area of the building plan (one shape, one area). This could help creating an initial program of functions and distributions.

Should I look for a ready component or is there an easy way to approach such a result since I'm not a very experienced GH user? I cannot write codes.
