Diamond pannels, wbStellate and Space Truss Structure

Hello!

I am a beginner and I'm trying (for two days now) to create a space truss structure on a curve generated surface.

I know about the LunchBox tool for doing this, but the trick is that i need it to be diagonal (diamond-shaped).

So I extracted the points from the top of the pyramids generated using wbStellate, but I can't manage to unite them in the diamond-shape form that we find on the base surface. I tried using closest points option, and that has almost worked, eventhough there are a lot more lines there then i need, especially at the two ends. And that will eventually slow down my model when i want to extrude them.

I also tried patching the points, but it gives me a much larger surface than i need and i have no idea what to do next.

Can anyone help me please?
