Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

hello friends,

is it possible to render the gh geometry nontransparent?

I tried to do this with the custom preview component but even 0% transparency does not cover the geometry behind. Iwould be very luke if I could fix this.

Would be nice to have if i could preview my geometry only by white edge lines but with hidden lines which are covered by surfaces. Could that be made somehow?

What else can i do to define the preview of gh geometry in rhino by my self (without baking!)? are there some more helpfull components to define the rendered preview?

Thank you for help.

Hi Johannes,

you should be able to achieve fully opaque preview using a custom preview component. You can also change the default preview materials from the Canvas toolbar

You cannot draw hidden lines in Grasshopper previews.

I think I have full opaque preview but only of the surfaces. The edge lines still shines through.

Does this includes also the edge lines? they are always visible?

Ah, that is actually an artifact of the way Grasshopper draws geometry. It draws curves slightly towards the camera to make sure they are always 'on top of' Rhino curves that are in the same place.

You can disable this bumping via the Canvas toolbar meshing button:

I dont have this option. Does this depends to the fact that i'm using gh version 0.9.0014 because of Rhino4?

yes
