Custom Gusset Plate Script

I'm currently trying to create through a script a linear geometry that I can extrude into an object. This is going to be a sort of gusset plate in the end. I have tried many things but I cannot figure out how to shorten the ends of the gusset plate. I can make these individually myself in rhino but am looking for a faster way in grasshopper since there are hundreds of custom plates to make, one for each connection point. Any suggestions appreciated!!
