Curve scaling normals bug? or am I doing something wrong?

I am basically making closed polylines, moving them at the normal direction, scaling the moved closed poly lines then lofting between. My problem is that it seems the scale component is changing the normals of the polylines and I cannot figure out how to fix it. Even stranger when I change the amount of scaling different polylines ar effected. I have tried flipping normals, and also using surfaces to scale instead of polylines. Please have a look at the attached definition, also see the two screenshots and see how just changing the slider value causes different lofts to be effected. Thanks.
