Cull Pattern and BZ Span on multiple objects

I am having a problem with a definition from Woo Jae Sung. There is a bridge deck definition I have been working through and it was working up until I started adding the amount of "blocks." 
If I flatten the surface divide output, the cull pattern works and grabs the corner points of each of the surfaces, but then the BZ Span does not work. 
If I leave everything as defined by the tutorial, the BZ Span links every single point with a line instead of, for example, linking the top right point of the first surface of each curve. BZ Span links the top right corner point to every other point on every surface along the other curves.
I tried uploading files but was taking way to long.
