Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello!

I'm trying to generate a crumpled paper surface texture on the surfaces of various volumes with some curvature. The goal is to be able to take any simple volume and quickly give it this 3D surface treatment.

I imagine I'll be dealing with kangaroo-subjected triangulated meshes, but my experience is limited and any advice, sample scripts, or basic tutorials would be welcome.

if the goal is to quickly take a volume and give it a 3D surface treatment, (and I say this knowing full well this is a GH forum) your best bet is to probably set up a custom render material with some bump and displacement maps. much quicker, and no scripting in GH necessary. Obviously it's dependent on your needs, for example if you specifically need geometry for your project, but if it's just a visual there could be easier and simpler ways to do it

Thanks for the reply!!!

I decided to use Mudbox ans re-import...
