Creating surface with hexagons - ZA11 pavilion

Hi - 

I have been trying to reverse engineer the following project:

To do so I have created a hexagonal mesh, however I am having trouble creating a surface with these meshes. 

I have looked at box morphing and the kangaroo plug-in 'Hinge' to try and bend my mesh to the surface I want with no results. It seems that the kangaroo script is coming up with the error 'object reference not set to an instance of an object'. 

Any help would be very appreciated!
