Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello(ween) everyone,

This is my very first post here and I'm about to try to use rhino+grasshopper for the first time soon (for work).

I have very basic rhino skills but I'm familiar with other 3d modelling software. Anyways, what I want to achieve is to convert as close as possible a free-form spline building outlines into 10 types of different arcs so that they can be built.

Would love to have any sorts of suggestions/instructions/scripts and I will begin my journey into r+g!

Thanks in advance!

I mean even as a starter, how would you determine what the radius are for the 10 total type of arcs to even begin with?

thanks tom for the reply!

It's for glazing/build purpose. I'm attaching an image here

As you can see the red line is the profile of the glazing line (and there are about 10 more of this shapes cutting through the roof/slab to form courtyards; they all need to be created in a total of 10 types of arcs w/ different radius). In order to make the manufacture more economical and practical I need to make them into arcs with a consistent chord length. I personally is still trying to figure out where to start with this so I'm not 100% what to do actually...

And yes I'm definitely not looking for hundreds of small arcs.

And yes they don't need to be precisely on top of the spline profile. Just need to be as close as possible

Cheers tom. I've already started to do it manually :)

It's a lot of trial and error but it will get the job done eventually I suppose.

Thanks for the gh file. I can still use it to learn how to use gh
