Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi guys

I am playing around with meshes for an assignment regarding funicular structures. Generally I would stick to surfaces as i find them much cleaner to work with but I am using the new Smart Form plug in which requires meshes to function. (Plus its always good to learn new things). I have run into a small issue with generating my initial flat grid.

I have a mesh generated from a MESH UV component which I use to approximate a surface that has been created by a boundary curve. This mesh is then triangulated. Once the mesh has been created i extrude the boundary curve and use mesh split to cut to mesh into the exact shape (see image).

The problem is that the resulting mesh is extremely messy at the boundary with lots of small irregular triangles. I was wondering if anyone knows a way to clean up this boundary with larger more regular triangle faces.

I am sure there is probably an easy fix that I am unaware of due to inexperience with mesh geometry.

Thanks in advance for any help
