Automatically delete rhino geometry on a layer using grasshopper

I am trying to read geometry into grasshopper from a layer in Rhino- perform some operations on it and then automatically bake the geometry back onto the layer.

Is there a way to delete the geometry from the layer so that I am left only with the updated geometry?
