Area of Triangulated Surface

hi there,

i have at the moment generated a way of triangulating surfaces with a random x,y,z axis. i want to now apply a given surface area to each triangulated surface and have them arranged in an optimised plan arrangement (using Galapagos) of some sort as part of exploration for uni. does anyone have any suggestions???

i then want to be able to take that arrangement and apply it to a given plane on site and within a perimeter/boundary. a bit like flow along surface command in rhino but have the triangulated surface follow that selected plane and then trimming off what i don't need.
