Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all,

Would it be possible to use the "AreaMoments" command from Rhino to Grasshopper?

Or would it be possible to add a component that computes the area moments of a surface/closed curve?

Thanks

Moments come as vectors. Just use vector components.

Hi Fred,

For me the output Ix using the collection of boxes and strings at the end of this link

is the sum of Ix and Iy not Ix itself

OK got it working thanks, and realize now that if you are working with your part centered on the global axis system you only need the vcomp block, Important also to note S is the output of the inertia of the areas about the x,y,z axis, checked by hand calc. , I output has one value as the sum of x&y

Glad you worked it out, because I didn't understand your problem at all 8-)
And yes the z comp is the torsion moment resp. to the centroid i.e. sum of x and y.
S are "second moments" and I don't know what they're used for...
