Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Any suggestions on how to go about learning VB.net for Grasshopper?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could suggest how I would go about learning VB.net for Grasshopper?
Should I pick up a book on VB.net? and if so, which one?

I saw one in-progress handbook on VB.net for grasshopper, but it is very incomplete.

I have some programming experience wherein I know Processing and I played around with VB.net in Grasshopper. But it seems that even if I have played around with it, I still don't have enough knowledge and would benefit from structured examples/exercises.

thanks in advance for your suggestions and advice!

Hi Mari,

I'll tell you what I tell everybody with this question: I don't know.

I've yet to come across a readable book about programming. There's a lot of good reference books out there though. In my experience the best plan of attack is to start on a project that you must finish and that you understand well. Especially that last part is vital, learning programming while trying to accomplish something that is confusing is not productive. You can ask people here or on other forums for example code (it's important you can explain succinctly and unambiguously what you need) and then spend some quality time trying to modify or understand it.

By far the best way to learn something is by doing it, not reading books about it.
