Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi Everybody,

Last week I was attempting to build scissor structures in Grasshopper and extremely gratefully got some help with that. So I now (with help) have a scissor script that is completely amazing and adjustable but I am looking to animate that script. I have done lots of research about this and I now have more questions than when I started. Will I have to rebuild this in another way, is it a modification I can make to the existing script, or will I need python to accomplish deploying and closing these structures? I suspect this is an advanced manoeuvre and I am still a grasshopper newbie. I was going to animate using Bongo before I realised that you can do this all in Grasshopper.

For some reference to what I am trying to accomplish check out this video.

Let me know if you have any tips/tricks/resources to share and thank you thank you thank you.

Replace the 'Point on Curve' component with a slider connected to 'Evaluate Curve (Eval)'.  Then right-click the slider and use 'Animate'.  That will generate a series of screen snapshots while moving the slider which can be assembled in Photoshop as a .gif ('File | Scripts | Load Files into Stack', then 'Make Frames From Layers').

You might want to remap numbers...?

This was a good idea but I am running into problems. I made the replacement in the script but the scissor structure will stretch and become larger, but it will not shrink down and collapse. Also when it stretches the elements stretch and I would like them to stay at a constant size and just collapse together. Here are some images and the script. Any suggestions? I tried adding in remap numbers in case that would help with the issue but it did not seem to work where I put it. Thanks so much for your help, if you have any suggestions I would be grateful.
