Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I've been trying to create a leaf venation pattern using Anenome and as usual I can't get my head around how to manage the data as I add more branches into the loop.

At the moment I work out which food points are affecting the node by working out which points lie within a range of 2 direction angles. I use these points to calculate an average direction and move the node in this direction and then start the loop again.

How can I randomly branch off this?

I assume I need to add a node and a new growth direction vector so the loop then acts on 2 sets of nodes etc etc as the venation grows?

Any help much appreciated... I'm stuck!
