alternatively staked blocs on a surface

Hello,

I try to build a definition to match overlaping blocs on a surface (see picture).

My defintion attached works but I still have troubles :

1 I need to keep a constant height of blocs to match, how choose a U division adapted to any surface height ?

2 How could I adapt the definition on a surface whith differents heights ?
